Frank D. Parent K-8 School is located at 5354 W. 64 th Street, Inglewood, California 90302. It is situated in the northwestern section of Inglewood. The surrounding neighborhood consists of single/multi-family dwellings located in the Ladera Heights Community. The Ladera shopping center, along with many other businesses, is within walking distance of the school. The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is approximately three miles southwest of Frank D. Parent K-8 School. The 405 Freeway is approximately one mile south of the school.
The faculty consists of thirty-seven (31) Classroom Teachers, two Administrators, an Office Manager, a Program Coordinator, a Counselor, an Academic Coach, two Campus Supervisors (Security), a Plant Manager and three Custodians, two Resource Specialists, an SDC Teacher, a Speech Therapists, a School Psychologist, two Instructional Aides, four Program Aides, four Special Education Aides. We also have a Nurse Technician on duty two days per week (Thursday and Friday) and one Nurse Supervisor one day a week (Monday).
Frank D. Parent’s educational team consists of highly qualified professionals committed and dedicated to preparing our students to enter colleges and universities, to instill in them the importance of being a life-long learner, to offer a rigorous, stimulating and purpose driven academic curriculum that will empower and enable our students to make choices that will promote life, freedom and future economic opportunities. Our Staff members are excellent role models for our students. We have the best. Among our staff we have Mrs. Eleanor Wallace our 8 th grade math/algebra teacher who was nominated and chosen as one of the thirteen finalists from a field of 68 district level winners to be named 2005 LA County Teacher of the Year. Her involvement is not limited to Mathematics. Mrs. Wallace annually leads Parent School students to win 1 st-3 rd place awards in the Herndon Science Competition, District Science Fairs and Mathematics Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Competitions. We have Mrs. Kristin McCambridge-Brown, one of our sixth grade teachers whose accomplishments were documented in the 2004 edition of Who’s Who of American Teachers. Combined, our extremely talented and professional team of educators brings a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and skills to impart to the students of Frank D. Parent in meeting the state standards and extra-curricular activities that will enable them to function in a global society.
- Dynamic working relationships have been established between the school and community. We have a strong Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and School Site-Council where parents are involved in a collaborative effort to make decisions in best interest of our students. Our current adopters include Bank of America, L.A. Business Printers, Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter, L.A. Airport Honda, Sister Spice Ministries, KJLH 102.3 Radio Station, Lifetouch National School Studios, Costco’s, Heights at Ladera and the Los Angeles County Assessor and Mu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. to name a few.
Within the Inglewood community, there are a wealth of businesses and other organizations that recognize the value of a strong educational system. The leaders of such organizations are eager to lend their materials and logistical resources, as well as their expertise, whose support benefit all its participants.
